Spruce belongs to the pine family and can grow up to 60 m tall. Only the Norway spruce is native to Central Europe, which makes up a good 30% of the entire forested area and is the largest European source of coniferous wood. This wood type is used in a variety of ways and has proven itself as a sustainable material both outdoors and in interior design.
Spruce wood has a white to yellowish-white colour and a silky matte sheen, but darkens when exposed to light and thus acquires a yellowish-brown colour.
Typical for spruce wood is its structure or finely striped surface, which can also have distinct knots in it.
When untreated, this wood type is quite vulnerable outdoors; the material only becomes weatherproof when glazed or coated in a surface treatment.
Spruce wood is lightweight and comparatively elastic, but its greatest advantage is its high load-bearing capacity.
At windows24.com you have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of different wood types for the frames of your wood windows. Pine and larch, for example, are comparable to spruce in terms of properties and durability, while meranti and eucalyptus are tropical woods and are characterised above all by their naturally high level of weather resistance. Oak, on the other hand, is a hardwood and is therefore particularly popular for windows.
Whether made of pine, meranti, larch, spruce or other wood types – in the configurator you can design your wood windows and doors in a variety of ways: select a specific profile for the window frame, modern glazing and choose a shape, the number of sashes and the handle type.
The choice of colour and accessories is also entirely up to you. Meaning you'll receive a very personal natural product of the highest quality.
